Patagonia: The Plan

Patagonia: The Plan

While I just told you that “salto” means waterfall, it is also a form of the word “saltar,” which, more universally in the Spanish language, means “jump.” And that’s what this trip was for me–a jump. Perhaps you could even call it a leap of faith, as my only backpacking experience dated back to a decade-old jaunt at Girl Scout camp. To be fair, since I was a nerd growing up, I am unfazed by heavy backpacks, but Patagonia is something else entirely.

One Day in Milan

One Day in Milan

The One Day series is intended to give you a quick overview of a city, with some quick suggestions with respect to meals, attractions, and activities. Milan always ends up being a stopover city for me, where I tend to rush through one or two activities before moving on to another city. Milan’s Duomo: “The Awful Failure”

So, you are in Milan for a single day. Among everything that Milan has to offer, do you choose to visit the Duomo Milano? Yes, I absolutely believe that you should, just to see the building that Mark Twain and Lord Tennyson despised.

Chasing Iguazu (Iguazu Falls: Day 2)

Chasing Iguazu (Iguazu Falls: Day 2)

One incontrovertible fact that can make Iguazu frustrating to navigate is that everyone else in the world thinks the falls are just as amazing as you do. If you have a multi-day trip planned, there are two main approaches: revisit your favorite park places on the second day or range further afield to less-traveled attractions. We chose the latter option.

Word of the Day: Quiddity Isn’t it strange how a single word can have vastly conflicting meanings? As you can see above, the word “quiddity” can mean anything from the essential nature of a thing, a distinctive characteristic of a thing, or even be relegated to a trifling point about the very same thing.
