Hi there! My name is Erin. I also occasionally go by the title of Wandering Weirda, a not-so-subtle nod to some of my personal eccentricities and sporadic bilingual-ness. Ken, my fiancé and travel partner, prefers to keep a lower profile (and struggles to spell the word “weirdo”).
Here are some weird facts about us, generated completely randomly but in chronological order:
- One of Ken’s first words was “cook.” Erin’s first word was “kaku.” According to our respective parents, each of these words apparently meant “cookie” — a clear sign that they would eventually be destined for one another.
- Ken graduated from Cornell Preschool without distinction. Erin attended a co-operative preschool in California and crashed her bike many times.
- Ken played the piano through high school, church, and various recitals. Erin promptly flunked out of piano but did pick up some sick (but limited) glockenspiel skills.
- Ken played tennis on an award-winning team. Erin couldn’t decide between basketball, volleyball, and soccer, and played them all.
- Ken achieved his Eagle Scout status by being an upstanding, contributing member of the community. Erin had perfect attendance several years running.
- Ken and Erin met in college. Ken was an engineer who dedicated his time to indoor activities, such as unlocking the Broseidon achievement in Halo: Reach. Erin, a liberal arts major, preferred to spend her time napping and reading outside on the quad.
- Ken approaches edges with caution. Erin likes to lean over to get a better view.
- Ken loves planning. Erin prefers to wing it.
And together, we have traveled the world.
